SOS Children's Villages starts emergency relief in flood-affected Colombia

December 10 2010 - 10/12/2010 - Heavy rains in northern Colombia have lead to disastrous floods and landslides that have claimed the lives of some 200 people. More than 1.5 million people have lost their homes to the floods and both Colombian and international governmental organisations and NGOs are scrambling to help those who have lost everything. SOS Children's Villages is supporting affected children in the Province of Antioquia.

Haiti: SOS Children's Villages' schools close as riots erupt

December 9 2010 - 09/12/2010 - Violent riots in various cities in Haiti following the publication of presidential election results are said to be worse than in previous years. For security reasons, SOS Children's Villages has temporarily closed its schools in Port-au-Prince and Cap Haitien.

Floods in northern Albania - SOS Children's Villages is helping affected families in Shkodra

December 7 2010 - 06/12/2010 - Torrential rains hit Albania last week causing floods in almost half the country. The situation is worst in the northern part in the region of Shkodra where over 12,000 people are evacuated and over 7,000 houses and living buildings flooded. Families, who are supported by SOS Children's Villages in Shkodra, are also heavily affected and are provided with the most needed supplies.
