SOS Children’s Villages in the Sudan remain vigilant in the face of rising unrest

June 10 2011 - 07/06/2011 – Just six weeks before South Sudan is due to secede as an independent country, tensions between North and South Sudan have flared up. About 60,000 to 80,000 people have fled the in the disputed Abyei region. SOS Children’s Villages' programmes are far away, but are closely monitoring developments.

SOS Children’s Villages sends two relief convoys to Liberian-Ivorian border

June 10 2011 - 01/06/2011 - Due to the ongoing violence in Côte d’Ivoire, tens of thousands have fled the country for the relative safety of Liberia. Desperate refugees need basic necessities and medication. SOS Children's Villages' second convoy with emergency supplies arrived on 26 May.

Ivorian refugees in Liberia still in dire need of help

May 12 2011 - 12/05/2011 - Thousands of people from Côte d'Ivoire have fled the civil war and violence into Liberia. The living conditions in the refugee camps along the border are harsh. Children are especially suffering. SOS Children's Villages Liberia has been distributing food and other aid supplies in coordination with UN agencies and NGOs.
