Tackling child poverty and social exclusion in the EU

March 10 2014 - On 10 March, the social affairs ministers of EU Member States will meet to discuss the EU’s social agenda for 2014. SOS Children’s Villages calls on the ministers to give priority to tackling child poverty and social exclusion. And we do so in partnership with 20 other European networks, all part of the EU Alliance “Investing in Children”.

Stress brings back old fears in Ukraine

March 7 2014 - For more than two months the political situation in Ukraine has been unstable. The insecurity has cascaded down to each and every family in Ukraine. “It's tense; you can feel the instability in the air. Everybody’s emotional situation is unstable,” says SOS mother Valya from SOS Children's Village Brovary, less than 20 kilometres from Kiev, where the instability started.

South Sudan: The crisis intensifies

January 31 2014 - The situation in South Sudan has deteriorated, with the SOS Children’s Village in Malakal feeling the full effects of the instability that has blighted the region for months. Hundreds of people in the SOS Children’s Village remain safe, but violence and malnutrition surround them.
