Executive Board

 

The Executive Board is the legal representative of SOS Children’s Villages International and is responsible for management of SOS Children’s Villages International. It implements decisions made by the General Assembly and the International Board and leads the General Secretariat, which operates SOS Children’s Villages International as a legal entity and provides support to member organizations in their pursuit of their common purpose. The Executive Board currently consists of the Chief Executive Officer and the Chief Operating Officer, and is led by the CEO.

 

Benoît Piot – Interim Chief Executive Officer

Benoît Piot is the Interim Chief Executive Officer of SOS Children’s Villages International, appointed in July 2025. He joined the organization in 2014 as International Director for West, Central and North Africa, bringing extensive experience from the humanitarian and development sectors. Since then, he has served in several leadership roles, including International Regional Director for West and Central Africa, International Director for Programme Development, and Interim Director of Safeguarding. As Interim CEO, Benoît leads the Executive Board to ensure effective global coordination and support to Member Associations worldwide. Learn more on LinkedIn

 

Biranchi Upadhyaya - Interim Chief Operating Officer  

Biranchi Upadhyaya is the Interim Chief Programme Officer of SOS Children’s Villages International, appointed in July 2025. He has served as International Director for the Asia region since January 2023 and brings more than 30 years of international experience in child-focused programming, leadership, and organizational transformation. As Interim CPO, he leads efforts to strengthen programme quality and innovation across the global federation - ensuring that children, young people, and families receive the care and support they need to thrive.
